| abstract | The Study centers on the existing project management philosophy that Greek companies adopt in the business area of GIS and Geoinformatics. It identifies areas for potential improvement by proposing a structured – knowledge based – project management approach in order to aid such companies and organizations to undertake and successfully execute complex and demanding projects. As these companies are small they face constant change in every aspect of business and management. Through the proposed project management approach that it is being proposed (SPMA), the Author does not expect to narrow project management knowledge for Geoinformatics, but to offer to whom it might concern a) a useful interim tool that will aid a transition to professional wide project management methodologies or b) an easy and adoptable project management method. The proposed Structured Project Management Approach (SPMA) is a result of research through recognized related literature, and other sources combined with the Geoinformatics business area through conducts of interviews. |
